The End is Near!

Yes, I finally got past that argument I wanted to write and the guys are finally in LA!
But now I'm in the middle of another one. Argument, that is. I have to add a lot of drama in there before the big ending. I'm pretty happy with it, I think.
Noël's been reading and is happily obsessed! Actually, I'm just glad she likes the story. This is always good to hear-if I can keep two completely different types of readers interested then maybe others will be sure to follow. It's been fun being able to share it with other people. I've got some more chapters to send to Heather, but I can't find the e-mail message with the last chapters I sent.
Now if I can just keep plugging along and get it done, without any more nagging. Then I can start sending query letters. I've been wondering if it's better to query agents first, then publishers. There's no telling. I still think it's pretty good-I've got a strong central character that everyone's rooting for, it's funny, it's sexy(maybe even too dirty), and I think it's believeable. I'm still very proud of it despite that I started it twenty years ago when I was a clueless sixteen-year-old. Jon grew up with me-it's pretty cool. I still almost hate to finish it-I can't go back to that world again. Well, I can by just re-reading it, and I have prequel and sequel notes!
Now all we need is a title. We've been scoping song lyrics for ideas. I also thought a cool packaging idea would be to have a soundtrack to go with it. I'm thinking about putting a mix together already-I'm thinking box set??? Well, just 2 cds for now.
I'd be working on it now but I forgot to bring my flashdrive with me to class-it's still in my office computer. I'll probably be able to get a lot done on it this weekend-we don't have gigs, I've still got my cold, and Don will be at the State Track Meet with Cassie on Friday. I might even go to Mom's. Don't know yet.
Anyway-that's the latest update!

Another year older

First of all, my birthday was yesterday. And it was a good one-I got to sit down and chill out a little bit. I fell asleep watching the old version of Father of the Bride. Why can't I look like Elizabeth Taylor...?
The gig at Monroe went very well. It was amazing to see people actually appreciating what we play! They were dancing and singing along and not looking at us like we were aliens. And these were young college kids, too. Amazing. We kicked into the Pat Benatar and Scandal stuff and a whole slew of girls were up there singing along. Wild. Tony even noticed a couple of girls trying to get Don to dance. That's hilarious.
Jimmy and Heather were there, supporting us all the way. She was telling me what I needed to fix in the latest chapters of the book she's read-all the medical stuff that happens to Jon. I think her nursing expertise will be a big help. She said she was reading it there at the fire station and consulting her paramedic buddies, and mentioned that they were all interested: And then what happens? And then what? I'll have a book sold there maybe!
We were so exhausted when it was all over. We tried to make it all the way back home but Don started getting tired and we only made it as far as Minden. We stayed at a Holiday Inn Express-where first our room key didn't work, then the fire alarm went off, then these people just walked right into the room but quickly left when Don said, "Hello!". Then the phone rang at 8 a.m....That was a mess. Turned out they were supposed to book us in Room 311, but told us 313 (hence the bad card key), then they booked those other people in 313...ARG!!! The desk clerk discounted our room for us. What a road story!
We got back to DeQueen Sat. a.m. to check on Kattie at the hospital. She had to have the baby via C-Section, but now she and the baby are fine and came home today. He's a sweet little boy. Now comes the hard part. We should have them in her little apartment pretty soon.
It was an exhausting weekend-I'm just glad that's over, too. Now we prepare for Boogie's-our first two-night gig. I hope we can handle it. We hadn't played a four-hour gig in so long we were worn out by the last set in Monroe. We'll be able to build back up though I'm sure. I think we're gonna take Thursday night off and just rehearse on Tuesday-get the sets lined up a little better. Overall, I was pleased with Friday. It was actually pretty fun.
Maybe once things slow down a bit and get settled in with the band, I can work on the book again. I must have it finished soon!
